Estonia will have to face a trial at the Court of Justice of the European Union after the European Commission considered the country's national law doesn't guarantee the impartiality of the national telecoms regulator.

EU rules regarding telecoms say that national authorities exercising regulatory tasks cannot at the same time be involved in the ownership or control of telecoms companies, something that is not being respected in the Baltic state.
