The European Investment Bank and Nederlandse Waterschapsbank N.V. announced on 13 September that they are making €200 million available for climate-relevant investments by local water authorities in the Netherlands, with a focus on sustainability.

The financing will help authorities adapt to the adverse effects of climate change, by supporting flood-risk reduction and water resources management schemes.

The EIB agreed to lend €100 million to NWB Bank, with advantageous conditions and a tenor of 25 years. The other half of the project will be provided by NWB Bank, making the total €200 million.
