The European Investment Bank is lending €50 million to Plzeňské městké dopravní podniky, a public transport provider in the Czech city of Plzeň, to help implement Plzeň’s sustainable transport strategy, which aims to improve urban public transport while minimizing the negative impact of transport on the environment.
The loan will enable the purchase of some 34 trams and approximately 34 trolley buses to replace existing vehicles, and will improve public transport services for about 71 million passengers per year.
