The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), which acts as a bridge between Europe and civil society, held its inaugural plenary session on October 8, where it elected a bureau for the new five-year term. The members of the committee elected with an overwhelming majority their new president, Greece’s trade unionists' George Dassis who represents the workers’ group.
