The European Commission (EC) has reaffirmed its support for the accession of Bulgaria and Romania to Schengen.
In its biannual overview on the functioning of the Schengen area released on 3 June, the EC mentions the Council conclusion in June 2011 according to which both Bulgaria and Romania fulfil the criteria to apply in full the Schengen acquis.
