Five people lost their lives after a series of storms hit central Italy on Wednesday, causing fatal floods and landslides.

Italian news agency ANSA reported that a 70-year-old woman died when water flooded into her room following torrential rains in the town of Pago Veiano in Benevento province, Italian police said Thursday.

Moreover, in Varoni di Montesarchio in Benevento province a 70-year-old man, suffering from heart disease, reportedly died while trying to clean out flood debris.
