Commission to request ECJ fines Poland over lack of environmental legislation complience


The European Commission has decided to refer Poland to the European Court of Justice (ECJ), asking for financial penalties to be imposed for two failures to transpose EU legislation into national law.

Poland has failed to inform the Commission about the transposition of legislation on the Ambient Air Quality Directive, which should have been in place since 11 June 2010, and about its strategy to protect seas, which should have been in place since 15 July 2010.
