Commission proposal to improve greenhouse-gas rules for forestry and agriculture


The European Commission has adopted a new proposal on accounting for greenhouse-gas emissions in a step towards incorporating removals and emissions from forests and agriculture into the EU’s climate policy.

The accounting framework is supposed to raise awareness of future climate change impacts related to agriculture or forestry and provide for cost efficient mitigation options, support sustainable growth, enhance continued food production and protect nature in general.
