Commission clears Austrian green-energy law


The European Commission has found an Austrian scheme to support the production of energy from renewable sources in line with EU state-aid rules, in particular because it creates incentives for an increased use of renewable energy while containing safeguards to limit competition distortions.

The scheme is designed to assist Austria in reaching the mandatory national renewable energy target set under EU legislation by 2020.
