Colombia to become first Latin American NATO member


Colombia will shortly join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization as a “global partner”, making it the only Latin American nation having a partnership with the alliance, president Juan Manuel Santos announced.

Juan Manuel Santos, who signed a peace deal with the left-wing Farc guerrillas in 2016, ending the longest-running civil conflict in the western hemisphere won the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts.
