The UK has said that developing global trade will be the main priority of its year-long presidency of the G8 nations.
The UK took over the role on 1 January, and has said that the pursuit of free trade, along with combating protectionism and tax havens will be the main focus of its stewardship of the group, comprised of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States.
