UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will make a snap visit to Israel and the Palestinian territories on Tuesday, in a high-profile gambit to stem Israeli-Palestinian monthlong violence. 
The visit comes amid that stoked in Jerusalem a month ago over tensions surrounding a contested holy site - known to the Jews as Temple Mount and to Muslims as the Noble Sanctuary -  sacred to both Jews and Muslims.
