As schools across the Czech Republic finished for the summer, our AT&T team in Brno also ended this year’s Student Technical Projects and AT&T Training Center programs and recognized the best student participants. Both programs are helping to create a workforce with advanced tech skills which is increasingly important as technology continues to change the way we live and work.
Here’s more information…
The Student Technical Project is an AT&T initiative set up in cooperation with the Informatics, Postal and Financial High School in Brno (SŠIPF). During a three-month program students worked on projects which were then presented to an expert jury composed of representatives from AT&T and SŠIPF. The jury awarded six projects out of this year’s dozens of applications, which focused on network virtualization, security and remote management of devices. The students behind the selected projects were awarded diplomas and prizes for their work.
For three years, AT&T has been cooperating with local universities and high schools on student projects and the creativity and interest of participants to gain practical experience continues to be fantastic. All the students presented projects that were at a very high standard. The jury was really impressed with not only the overall quality of the solutions, but also the usability of the projects in practice.
The AT&T Training Center Program graduates were also recognized by our team. This six-month internship program is aimed at university students in technical and IT fields and allows participants to enrich their theoretical knowledge with practical experience.
During the program, dedicated AT&T mentors coached the students and helped them with a specialization in one of three areas: management of computer networks, business intelligence and security in information technology. Apart from gaining invaluable practical skills the graduates received an AT&T Training Center certificate accepted by all branches of the company.
The success of this initiative has been really impressive. We started the AT&T Training Center program three years ago and have seen some great results. During that time, the program has been successfully completed by 50 students, out of which 30 decided to come to work with us at AT&T… and new applications are coming.
This all started with a vision a few years ago to make AT&T a leading choice of employment for IT professionals, as well as a new generation of talent, in the Czech Republic. Since our main focus in Europe is to support multinational organizations, we needed to make an extra effort to explain how AT&T is keeping our customers connected, driving innovation, and providing career opportunities in the tech sector. As you can see from the projects above, our Community Outreach Program is running as a well established engine. We are becoming an employer of choice and a well respected advisor in the Czech Republic ICT field.
Our vision has become a reality. We look forward to continuing our work in the community to help develop a workforce that’s prepared for success in technology-driven careers. I am very thankful to our Brno center employees who are always ready to go above and beyond.
