Germany's Finance Minister, Wolfgang Schauble did nothing to ingratiate himself with Greeks on the street during a short visit to Athens on July 18. 

Following days of demonstrations in the run up to yet another austerity vote on July 17, Athens' city centre went on lockdown for Schauble's visit. 4,000 police were deployed, main metro stations were shut for the duration of his stay, and demonstrations were banned.
