Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has accused Moscow of attempting "to incorporate" Belarus into Russia by blackmailing the small former Soviet republics using its oil and gas leverage.

Speaking to Russian journalists in Minsk on December 14, Lukashenko said his country will never be part of the Russian Federation as the nation’s "sovereignty is sacred" for him, personally, and for Belarusian citizens.
