SolarStratos plane to prove renewable energies’ capacities


PAYERN, Switzerland - Pilot Raphaël Domjan will fly to stratosphere on SolarStratos plane on 2019.

The single-engine SolarStratos plane has a weight of 450 kilograms, a length of 8.5 metres and a wingspan of 24.8 metres. The wings and other parts of the aircraft are covered with photocells, which occupy an area of 22 square metres. The plane is to rise to a height of more than 24,000 metres. The flight is scheduled for 2019.
